We made it to the big city late Monday night. And now we’re settling in and trying to get our lives ut back together.

Day 1

Everything was 100% genuine India even as soon as we arrived at the airport. The luggage took 2 hours to come out, it was raining, and there was a traffic jam at the arrivals area, so loading our luggage into our friend’s car took almost an hour itself!

Meanwhile the kids seemed to be in a state of near shock from the horns blaring and people yelling. Asia simply said, “I don’t like it”. And then pointed to two large cows standing outside the airport.

By morning it was dry and sunny. So we went shopping for Indian clothes – the Salwar kameez. The kids seemed to be doing well, and Eliyas gave the few rupees he had in his pocket to a child beggar on the street.

Both Asia and Eliyas would stare at each person sitting or lying on the sidewalk, beggars in the street, and other “Indian things” that they don’t remember from out time here before. I’m hoping they are not too freaked out by it all, but can instead see it as an adventure.

As one Indian lady told us at the airport when she saw our kids’ faces, “This is only the beginning!”
