Hey folks. I’m back. And even though we’re moving houses and shouldering lots of responsibility, I am ever sensitive to our countless blog visitors (ok, so there’s actually only 23 of you) who crave news and photos from our tireless team of fearless reporters.
So, to start you off, let me hook you up with 2 small pics here… and then I’ll get a video/image clip on YouTube in the next day or two. These next 2 pics are of our recent trip to China to share with nomadic Tibetan yak herders using media tools we (here at Create International) have developed.
I was pretty stoked to be able to see some of these media tools in action. Honestly, at first I thought that the impact of a book would be pretty limited. It sounded kind of ‘old school’ to me.
But personally using the illustrated books (a Tibetan Bible storybook – the small red book seen on the grass) changed my mind. From what we could tell, none of these people had ever seen or heard the Gospel presented in their language before. And when we pulled out the book and it’s audio narration, and some Mp3 players with Gospel stories in their language, they were stoked! People gathered in tents, in fields on the grass, and wherever they could to see and listen to the words in their own dialects! I have a serious new respect for evangelistic art now.
This was an amazing trip. Both because I was able to get some first-time exposure to Tibetan life and culture, AND because so many people have been exposed to the Gospel for the first time in an area that has no known church or believers. Very cool!
Hello! We are the Brays. And we love Muslims.
I was so excited when Jen told me of your trip and the “coincidence” that led to it, so it is great to see and read how great it was. We had a missionary at our church a few weeks ago that lives on the Nepal border in India, and he treks in 2 weeks a month to reach similar unreached villages and tribes. It is so exciting to know that every day someone somewhere is hearing about Jesus for the first time. :o)
Love you guys!
Hey Dan, Wow, it was so great to see those images and your testimony about seeing the affects of art evangelism…and now being stoked yourself. It sure choked me up! –to see the fruit of many hours of Shirleys artwork in our Perth offices now realized among the Tibetan peoples. May this just be the start of many more art projects for those yet to hear. Good on ya mate! So glad you got to be a part of distribution! Bless you all there in the Land of Smiles! Carol
